Teaching Piano
My entire teaching philosophy revolves around the idea that children learn best when they are engaged and having fun. My goal as a teacher is to create a life long love for music. I believe that music should be a passion and an escape, not a chore to be suffered through.
During lessons I combine time on the piano with engaging games and activities teaching musical theory.
I give "Practice Bucks" to reward my students for time spent on the piano at home. My students are encouraged to practice at least four days a week, the amount of time spent practicing varies depending on the students’ age and level. During lessons if their practice schedule is signed by a parent or guardian they earn a Practice Buck. Practice Bucks can be redeemed at my “Store” for prizes. I have prizes valued at 2, 4, 6 and 10 Bucks, and my students can spend or save as they wish. I found my Music Money on TPT, we jokingly call them Practice Bach’s because the $1 has Johann Sebastian Bach on it. I love the extra learning opportunities these Practice Bucks encourage.
